Last summer
I ran into this
wild beast
in my
local park!
It was a frightening
moment
while I
looked closely
to comprehend what
exactly
I was seeing.
Fortunately,
it was
so startled by me
that he did not move
from his position,
and I made it safely back to the office.
As an addict for books, whether audio or on paper, I enjoy buildings that possess books.
The Seattle Public Library has many branches, so this is NOT their only building! I mean, my hometown has a great main library, but that main library and all of the branches would fit inside of this main library with room to spare. How cool is 11 stories?
Also, there are many windows, so it’s also a good view of the city.
Never you mind, you can walk – without stairs – through the non-fiction section. There is a slight slant, but no stairs for ease of access to all of this wonderful knowledge. If you ever get to Seattle, stop by this architectural and bibliophile amazement.
(Side note: It’s not exactly homey, like my own city’s libraries, but it is a sight to behold.)
Ever since I managed to get on Pinterest, I haven’t had too much trouble staying off from it … for the most part.
They send me these weekly “suggestions” or what-have-you. So far, they haven’t snagged my attention.
Until tonight! One of the suggestions was an image of a crochet stitch I’d like to learn.
Two hours later, I am just dragging myself away. I’d swear to you that was only five minutes!
A tea and crumpet shop for breakfast: Fun! However, they didn’t have any of that clotted cream I read about now and again in English mysteries. Oh well, the jam was pretty good. They offered lemon curd, but it would have tasted like lemon. I’m more of a berry person.
I learned that a crumpet is really an English muffin. Then again, it now makes sense, since crumpets are muffins in England.
Isn’t quilting grand? I appreciate the beauty of each scene or pattern.
Thank goodness there are those willing to stab themselves with the needle or wind the bobbin. I am not one of these.
Sense of humor, love it! Still not buying or eating them.
Well, my nephew has a recipe with garlic and butter. That might make them edible.
I hear talk and read articles repeatedly lately about the importance of looking ahead, keeping your eye on the future, moving forward, etc. That can be good advice in some cases. However, I like to eat tasty food and take remarkable photos. For both photography and the harvesting of most of our foods, it’s important to look all around.
In photography, you may be concentrating on the gorgeous scene before your eyes and taking photos, but you might be startled by the beauty that lies behind you as well. If you are only looking forward, you miss the opportunity behind you.
In harvesting apples, one usually returns to each tree three times. Fruit on a tree ripens top down and outside in. If you only pick once, you’ll have ripe fruit, semi-ripe fruit, and not even remotely edible fruit. If you pick from the top and down the first time, you’ll get the most delicious fruit. If you go back to that tree and pick what remains on the outside, you’ll again enjoy delicious treats. Lastly, if you go back a third time, you will be able to pick what remains inside and know the fabulous taste of worthwhile labor.
Looking ahead is good, but looking all around is unequivocably delicious, and most photographers have documented proof.
My favorite food group is ice. I enjoy iced water, iced tea, iced coffee, and ice in my soda pop. Even in the winter, I enjoy iced beverages.
