A Little Help

There is this great shop in Marshall, Michigan where you can paint your own pottery. It has a variety of ceramics to paint, glass fusing available, and mud nights to create something from scratch.  There is no sitting fee, so I only pay for the project completed, which includes all paints and tools. Of course, the owner is a delightful person and hires eccentric people who keep it a fun place to go.

Usually, I use the festive paints with dots or techniques that put a pattern on the piece, such as painting lace onto it for the design. But this rooster deserved better. He needed some real painting effort. One of the women who work there helped me out.

Meet my paint-by-number project! Denise, at the Fire House, helped me select some paints and then we put numbers on each area where each different color would go. She helped me work on the first half, but I discovered I was capable of completing the color selection and numbering on my own. As you can well see, my efforts were well worth it!

Morale of the Story: God gives us assistance daily, and it’s okay to ask His other works of art for assistance as well.
NOTE: By “Work of Art”, I mean you!

Not As It Seems … Or Is It?

IMG_4975 SignI accessed Pandora Music today for the first time in years. While I enjoyed many of the songs, I was tickled to hear so many songs that I like due to just a few likes on the system.

There was one shock. Lady Gaga has a song called “Bad Romance”. Pandora tells me that the first few words are “Caught in a Bad Romance”. Oops! I thought it said, “I’m a better man”. Yep, I completely misunderstood ALL of the words. The song is totally different when I sing it: I don’t want a bad romance which makes me a better man. The meaning, I thought, was respect with good romance. Instead, it’s wanting drama, revenge, and, of course, bad romance.

At the same time, she says this: I want your horror, I want your psycho, I want your ugly.

So, I’m thinking it is still a good song, but with a different meaning. No one is perfect. Many feel horror, think they’re psycho, or believe they are ugly. To want to be with someone and love them despite these things can be a good thing. The goal is to have self love first and then be able to love another. But even when one loves themselves, sometimes they still don’t love ALL of their self.

For me, no matter the author’s meaning, this song means that there is love for all of us. No matter how we feel about ourselves. Just as God loves all of us … no matter how we feel about ourselves.

Are You Going to Tell Her Otherwise?

This is one of our sweethearts.

She’s in our guest room on the guest bed (inherited from my mom’s side of the family).

She’s right in the center, on both pillows.

The highest and softest point available to her in the room.

Are you going to tell her it’s not her room?

I value my life, so we’ll just let her think what she desires is true.

Fly Away, Pain

Dear Pain,

We’ve known each other for decades. You know me well. You know to change when I learn to deal with you. There are times that I believe you’ve gone for a good long time, then you surprise me and return as I get up from my chair or turn my head to look across the room.

Oh, Pain, I have tried so many treatments to be rid of you. You are not a friend I desire for my life. I desire hope, faith, and trust. There is no room for you in my life, in my closet, at the office, or with my friends. Yet you continually attempt to stick your nose where it doesn’t belong.

I must admit that I have learned from you. I have learned to carry on, as much as possible. I have been fortunate to work for blessedly supportive employers and supervisors for all of these years with you in my life. They understand when I need more time to remove you from my day. Despite all of your efforts, there is good in my life.

None the less, I wish for you to take a step back. Take note of my preventative efforts, and take a flying leap. May your flight take you far from this place.

Sincerely,
Not Your Friend

The Moon and the Sun

The moon and the sun, sitting on the beach.

One is saying, “Good evening, I look forward to watching over you this night.”

The other is saying, “It was a good day. Let’s have another one tomorrow.”

Both of these spheres keep us in tune.

Greeting Cards

I enjoy reading greeting cards, sending them, and receiving them. Hallmark is one of my most appreciated stores. They have cards for everything! When a beloved pet dies, when someone has a terminal illness, and for divorce. I enjoy their cards.

So when I saw this store in Traverse City, I was thrilled! Not only did they have caramels on sale, holiday items 75% off, and the perfect card I was seeking at the time, but the store was named for me! Granted, if it truly were, it would not have had corner spelled with a K. Not sure what other word, if any. But the first two words in the store name are great!

Morale of the Story: Nothing’s ever perfect, but close is often appreciated.

Traveling

What a week, and it’s not even over.

Traveling to take a friend to visit her parents.

Traveling to meet friends for a retreat.

Traveling for a work meeting out of town.

Traveling to take my mom to a museum for Mother’s Day.

Traveling to and from the office.

Traveling to and from the laundry room.

Traveling through all of the various e-mail at work and at home.

Traveling.

I thank the Lord to see the sunset from my own window.

Morale of the Story: Traveling isn’t for everyone. Sometimes the view from home is the best view available.

And Then There’s My New Favorite

This evening I was enjoying some time on the couch with the ONE cat of ours that will SOMETIMES sit on my lap. We were both content watching the television. Then…

Then another cat came along and harassed her into getting off of my lap. This “another cat” joined me on the couch. At least she was kind enough to sit next to me for a while. Until…

Until one more cat came along and nagged another cat. Another cat got down, and one more cat joined me on the couch. So…

So the one who leaves us all alone is now my new favorite. She was busy doing nothing the whole time.

Morale of the Story: Although I wish they could share, it’s good to be wanted.

Really?

Mom,

This is my life.

This is my time.

Do you really need to take another photo?

If so, please share my opinion of all of this attention.

Then, remind them how adorable I am.

All of the time.

Love, your daughter
