Cookie Monster?

Have you ever had a really good cookie? I mean moist, great flavor, hint of real vanilla extract, very little crumble waste, and only one satisfies.

These here cookies might be super expensive individually, but it only takes one to completely and utterly satisfy. And that’s saying something, because when I find a cookie that meets my intense criteria, I usually can barely restrain myself with only two or three.

Moral of the Story: Quality counts. Some cookies are just better than others. What are you a connoisseur of?

What Happens in Vegas (09)

I’ve heard there are other M&M stores, but this was my first. In Vegas of course.

Three stories of delightful colors!

However, it was too much to choose from, so I didn’t get anything … except awesome photos.

Am I a Vampire?

What I think I know about vampires (based on many festive books, such as those by Charlaine Harris, Anne Rice, Stephenie Meyer, Bram Stoker, and Mary Janice Davidson):

Vampires: Garlic is a problem.
Me: Onions and garlic, when cutting or cooking them, burn my eyes. This could be a sign. However, I enjoy their flavor in various combinations, and I don’t run from them in fear.

Vampires: Other problems are crosses, silver bullets, and wooden stakes.
Me: Other than splinters and tarnish, these are not problems for me.

Vampires: They like the dark and could potentially burn to death or shimmer in the daylight (depends on the author).
Me: This depends on if I have a migraine – in which case, I also like the dark, very much. However, I don’t actually burn to death or sparkle in the sunlight. Just grumpy in bright light and sunburn without sunscreen.

Vampires: Depending on the tale told, some vampires sleep all day and are up all night.
Me: Well, I can certainly accomplish this, but it’s not consistent.

Vampires: They don’t eat what most humans consider food.
Me: Now I KNOW I’m not a vampire!

I guess since I mostly get pain in my eyes from cutting onions or prefer the dark during a migraine, this is not enough to make me a fictional species.

Moral of the Story: Perhaps I shouldn’t jump to conclusions.

What Happens in Vegas (08)

Perhaps you’ve encountered one before, but this as my first Jelly Belly statue. In Vegas, of course!

But I’m not sure I like it. Hmmm…. Couldn’t they have sorted the Jelly Belly’s by color?

However, it is a feat to have made it!

Who is the lucky one to eat it?

I WILL Finish!

Someday, someone will receive this simple double crochet scarf. It’s been over a year that I’ve been working on it. Meanwhile…

In other news, my niece started this project this year and finished a few months ago. Only a few hundred of those tiny squares all crocheted together to make a handsome baby blanket. So…

at some point I will finish my simple, little scarf. Fortunately, everyone is different, works at different paces, has different abilities, and sets different goals.

One day, I will give this scarf away … and it will be complete.

Soft Food Fight

These lovely ladies have decided they wish to switch from hard food to soft food. Did you know there are at least seven descriptions for the meat in canned cat food? Minced, chunky, flaked, bits, shredded, cuts, and ground. Then there’s with cheese, egg, veggies, and rice. Some have more gravy than others. Of course there’s beef, chicken, turkey, tuna, salmon, and on and on.

Finally, the cans say to feed them 2.5 ounces per pound of cat. Hmmmm… one weighs 6.4 pounds and the other 12.4 pounds, but they both eat less than one 3 oz can per day so far. This is no matter how I divvy out multiple cans in a single day. Ack! I still put some hard food out, and they aren’t finishing that either.

I can see that this is a lengthy endeavor to get it right. Outside of mealtime, they are happy and healthy as usual.

I am thanking God that water remains the same for both. Phew! Or should I be worried?

Dear cat owned friends, how goes it?
Dear cat-less friends, I’m guessing you’re glad this is a battle you may never know.

Secret Sister

At church, instead of Secret Pals, we have Secret Sisters. My secret sister didn’t really do much early in the year, but she’s been spot on for a while now. I was also sadly negligent to my secret sister in the beginning because I mis-placed the sheet of paper, so I have no ill will toward the one with my name in her pocket.

For my birthday, this secret sister gave me an incredible gift! I not only adore cats, but also the artist Charles Wysocki. He created fun cat art and many other enchanting paintings over his career. Yet, I am highly doubtful my secret sister knows this. I don’t hide my appreciation of cats, so that part of the gift might be expected. I was truly delighted to find the two together: Wysocki and a cat. Hmmmm…. who is this sensational sister?!?!

Even my deary appreciates such a fun gift! Thank you, secret sister!
