ATTENTION SINGLE STRAIGHT MEN

ATTENTION SINGLE STRAIGHT MEN: If you are seeking the love of your life between 40 and 80 years of age … join a book club! So long as you don’t mind a literate woman, you’ll have the pick of the litter.

I was at the Reading Together author event last night, and it was probably 90% women. To meet men, I’m in the wrong club. Thank goodness I’m in it for the books!

Seattle, Washington: Of Interest 09

As an addict for books, whether audio or on paper, I enjoy buildings that possess books.

The Seattle Public Library has many branches, so this is NOT their only building! I mean, my hometown has a great main library, but that main library and all of the branches would fit inside of this main library with room to spare. How cool is 11 stories?

Also, there are many windows, so it’s also a good view of the city.

Never you mind, you can walk – without stairs – through the non-fiction section. There is a slight slant, but no stairs for ease of access to all of this wonderful knowledge. If you ever get to Seattle, stop by this architectural and bibliophile amazement.

(Side note: It’s not exactly homey, like my own city’s libraries, but it is a sight to behold.)

What do you do in a bookstore?

I take photos of the books I’d like to read, and then go to the library to find them.

What do I do when I’ve read a really good book? I go to the bookstore to buy it.

And then I can mark it up as I please, highlighting all of the best quotes.

2013 Resolutions

Exercise small

What to do in 2013:

  1. Write in my journal daily.
I’ve heard that after 30 consecutive days, anything becomes a long-term habit. I’ve never made it past 3 months.
  2. Write for this blog daily.
This is my 9th consecutive day. I’ve never done more than 2 days in a row.
  3. Keep my bedroom organized.
The last time was in 1983.
  4. Before # 3, I need to organize my bedroom.
I’ll have the cats help by picking up their own toys.
  5. Clean and organize the old section of the basement.
Can I just pull up a Best Way garbage truck?
  6. Read 95 books.
I’m already 3% behind according to www.goodreads.com. I can always throw in some children’s books to achieve that one.
  7. Lose 15 pounds and keep it off.
I have a gym membership, I just might use it. I could also reduce the carbs (Not this carb-a-holic!). I hear laughter can wear away pounds. That’s my plan: Laugh it off.
  8. Nap as needed, pray often, and scrapbook with friends.
I needed something I’m guaranteed to complete.

What will you do in 2013?
