Are You Going to Tell Her Otherwise?

This is one of our sweethearts.

She’s in our guest room on the guest bed (inherited from my mom’s side of the family).

She’s right in the center, on both pillows.

The highest and softest point available to her in the room.

Are you going to tell her it’s not her room?

I value my life, so we’ll just let her think what she desires is true.

And Then There’s My New Favorite

This evening I was enjoying some time on the couch with the ONE cat of ours that will SOMETIMES sit on my lap. We were both content watching the television. Then…

Then another cat came along and harassed her into getting off of my lap. This “another cat” joined me on the couch. At least she was kind enough to sit next to me for a while. Until…

Until one more cat came along and nagged another cat. Another cat got down, and one more cat joined me on the couch. So…

So the one who leaves us all alone is now my new favorite. She was busy doing nothing the whole time.

Morale of the Story: Although I wish they could share, it’s good to be wanted.

Really?

Mom,

This is my life.

This is my time.

Do you really need to take another photo?

If so, please share my opinion of all of this attention.

Then, remind them how adorable I am.

All of the time.

Love, your daughter

Standing Out

Does anything stand out in this photo to you?

Have you ever looked at someone, and something about them just stood out from the rest?

Hands, nose, lips, eye brows? Smile, voice, hugs, spirit?

There are many beings in my life for which something stands out.

  • Humor in any situation which disarms the most aggressive being.
  • Eyes that look into my soul and see me for who I really am.
  • Hands that touch my shoulder or the back of my hand in support.
  • A voice that calms my spirit.
  • Eye brows that express it all.
  • A nose that wiggles when the person laughs.
  • The head tilt of intensive listening.

I am blessed with beings who have something that stands out in my life. What stands out for you?

High as a Kite

There’s one sure way in our home to get the kitties into the cat carrier. Rub it down with catnip.

However, it was still quite potent when we returned from the vet. The deary who was transported seemed to understand our scheme.

The others did not. Our sweeties are high as a kite here, admiring their large, new cat toy, encased in one of their favorite scents.

If only pure bliss were so very simple to achieve for the rest of us. Yet seeing their pleasure, made us all smile … and laugh a wee bit. They were a delight to be around all evening long. (Yes, more so than usual.)

Property of The Cats

If you live with a cat, you may not actually own much. My cats own certain things that I thought were mine. For example, my crochet. Once I thought it was mine. For five seconds flat. Then I learned it was theirs.

While crocheting, the yarn moves from the ball or skein of yarn into the end product. This is enticing to most felines in my life. The end product can also be a delight to them. They love to be surrounded by soft things, and I prefer working with the soft yarns. We have the same tastes.

Over the years I’ve been a sucker for soft, fluffy pillows and blankets. None are mine. They know soft. They know comfort. They take possession.

One such blanket was the vellux deluxe. Light yellow. Softer than my cats. No matter where this is in the lay out of blankets and comforters, they find it. When I get home from work each chilly winter day, one or more of the cats have dug down and is either on or under the vellux deluxe blanket.  Again, it’s no longer mine.

Oh, the bed? Yeah, it’s not mine either.

But do I mind that what was mine is now theirs? Not for one moment. Those little fuzzy lovies are worth it. Besides, legally pets are property, so what is theirs IS mine. (But if you ever tell them that they are legally property, you’ll be very, very, very sorry. And it won’t be people bearing weapons that you should worry about. It will be 8 and 10 point fuzz balls of wrath.)
