Dancing in the Water

Last night I joined in the Zumba swim class again. I didn’t work as hard as last time because I had a nasty migraine earlier in the day, and I didn’t want it coming back for a stay. Therefore, I wasn’t as wiped out after the class.

I still laughed a LOT during the class! It’s a hoot trying to follow the instructor while standing on tippy toe in a swimming pool up to my neck in water.

Now for the bad news: I had to pee at 35 minutes. No way was I going to get out for that! The last 25 minutes of class felt like an hour and a half.

In the end, it was worth it: I feel a little sore, the migraine didn’t come back, and I’ve gone to the gym two weeks in a row! Just to work on the beverage ratio factor.

The Balance of Life

Tonight I took a Zumba Swim class at the gym. What? You didn’t know I belong to a gym? Yep, that’s because I rarely go.

The class was fun, and I laughed the whole time. The instructor stands outside of the pool to show us what to do. This alone is difficult, because I can’t see much without my glasses, and I was in the back of the class (having arrived late, as usual). One of the women in the class said I should wear my glasses in the water, but I can’t stand water on my glasses. That’s why I use an umbrella – not to protect my hair, but to protect my glasses from those tiny droplets that annoy my vision. No matter, my example of what the instructor performed for us was NOT even close.

Getting hydrated for the class is a fine balance. I need to drink enough water so that I don’t get dehydrated, which means becoming hot, dizzy, and unstable. But I also need to drink enough not to have to pee before the class is over. Women all over the world know what a frustrating experience that is. Once the suit goes on dry, it cannot come off wet until all swimming is utterly complete.

Now that class is done, I’ve taken a guess as to the proper amount of water to consume before class, and I’m cozy at home, I realize that I am now the most sore I’ve been since I don’t know when. Oh, my, that was a good workout! I hope I can function tomorrow.

Morale of the Story: Water is required for life. Yet there is a fine balance of how much, when, and where.

Exercise

I do not like exercise. I don’t like running, jogging, basketball, football, golf, boxing, or wrestling.

I do like swimming, but I can’t do that at home.

I also like biking, but I’d have to put that in my car, and it doesn’t fit to take it to a bike path.

I do get in at least a half hour of exercise daily.

So what do I do for exercise? I use my memory.

You see, I don’t have one, so this is how I exercise:

  1. While sitting in the living room, I decide to get up to get a drink of water.
  2. I end up having to use the bathroom.
  3. I forget about the drink from the kitchen.
  4. I go back to the living room.
  5. Five minutes later I’m thirsty, so I get up for a drink from the kitchen.
  6. The dryer dings that it’s done.
  7. I take care of the laundry.
  8. I go back to the living room.
  9. Five minutes later I’m thirsty, so I get up for a drink from the kitchen.
  10. I end up wandering around from room to room trying to figure out why I got up.
  11. I go back to the living room.
  12. Five minutes later, I’m thirsty, so I get up for a drink from the kitchen.

I’ll stop there. Let’s just say that this goes on and on. Perhaps after a half hour I’ll have gotten the drink. That’s a half hour of exercise!
