What Happens in Vegas (07)

Las Vegas has so much to offer! Seafood buffets, a gigantic chocolate fountain, steak galore, and alcoholic beverages everywhere. What caught my eye? You’ve guessed right: Popcorn!!!

Moral of the Story: Even in far off lands, you might find something that reminds you of home.

What Happens in Vegas (06 part 2 of 2)

This is one quick shot of the over-sized garden the Bellagio had on display in 2010.

I like bees. Well, it’s more appreciation and respect. With the farm, we need bees to help pollinate the fruit. Therefore, we need bees. Although I’m not allergic to a bee sting, I still don’t LIKE to be stung. However, this exhibit had the bees a little too big for my taste. These were the things of nightmares.

Moral of the Story: Sometimes there’s just one thing that takes away from the beauty. Overgrown bees in a glass garden take away the beauty for me.

What Happens in Vegas (06 part 1 of 2)

When I was in Vegas in 2010 for work, the colleague I toured the town with at night said I had to get to the Bellagio to see the annual Chihuly exhibit first. I’d seen bits and pieces of this hotel in movies, so I was plenty curious to check it out. It was a festive sight! So much glass! This is the usual display (so I’m told) in the Bellagio lobby. Tomorrow I’ll share their special exhibit.

Moral of the Story: Don’t show all of your cards at once!

What Happens in Vegas (05)

Just one of the pleasant sites in too hot Las Vegas. No idea now where we were, but this was a refreshing site for my sweaty self.

Have I mentioned lately that it was TDH there? TDH stands for Too Doggone Hot … in this particular instance.

What Happens in Vegas (04)

A friend and I on our free evenings in Las Vegas (days spent inside at a conference) enjoyed walking in and out of many casinos. We had no intentions to gamble, just to enjoy taking photos of each one and see the interior decorating wonders. I think I was a bit more interested in the outside of Casino Royale that the inside. I had high hopes of seeing a 007 figure. No such luck.

However, in this ridiculously hot desert city, the McDonald’s was more than a mirage with ice-cold water and nice cold seats. I’m not usually one to sing the praises of McDonald’s but three things came together for this: a) Ice cold water, b) cool air and cold seats, and c) clean bathrooms!

Moral of the Adventure: There is nothing so refreshing in all of the world as ice-cold water in the heat or hot tea in the cold.

What Happens in Vegas (02)

After reading Carole Nelson Douglas’ mystery series about the cat Midnight Louie (a fun series taking place in Las Vegas), I was very much looking forward to seeing the Pirate exhibit at Treasure Island. I was impressed by the pyrotechnics and the size of the boats, but I was saddened by the scanty outfits the crew wore. The only photos I brought home were those of the techy stuff. The scanty stuff is welcome to stay in Vegas … or even skip town.

I know that’s part of the allure for some of Las Vegas – the sex appeal. For me, it was the architecture of the buildings and the larger than life signs. What did not interest me was the obscene heat. I don’t mean that I got hot from the men dancing on the bar at MGM Grand (okay, I did). What I mean is the heat index outside: 113 Fahrenheight = unacceptable! I’ll take Michigan any day!

Moral of the Story: Clothes are a good thing, even in horrible heat.

What You See in Vegas (01)

What you see in Vegas, stays in Vegas is the old adage. But sometimes, I wish what I saw in Vegas would be real, here all the time. Wouldn’t it be great to have a rescuer in everyday life?

Moral of the story: Thank goodness there’s God! He’s only a prayer away.
